Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I had the last of the old batch of veggies for breakfast and tea. I cheated at dinner time and had a small pizza. Streng verboten but I lived dangerously.....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Chicken and new batch veggies X three. I cooked buttered swede as an extender.... (I love my extenders, they bring the unit cost of my meals down and extend the period until my next cooking. It comes round so fast!)

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Chicken and veggies X three and I cooked savoury cabbage and onion as an extender.... I might have said this before but anyone who can make cabbage attractive is a good cook!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Sardines, onions and veggies for breakfast and on my visit to the Co-op I found smoked gammon rashers at sell-by date price and cooked them with tomatoes and onions. That then became dinner, tea and this morning's breakfast..... A super-extender!
In the background I slow cooked my pork belly with orange and onions and by teat time I had defatted it and it is ready now to augment the veggies....

Jacket spud topped with chilli and cheese, the chilli was from a batch I made a couple of weeks ago and was lurking in the freezer.

Chicken and chorizo in a tomato and onion sauce with peppers, mixed veg, red pesto, black olives, grand padano cheese and bucatini pasta. Washed it down with an Australian Shiraz.

That ,looks good Kev!
I had meat and veggies X Three but spoiled my tea by eating nuts as I watched John and Ronnie battling it out at the Crucible.
Today I finish the last of the old batch and veggie cook.....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
"I cooked buttered swede as an extender."
I had a swede cooked whole in the microwave - as shown on Youtube. It was the Easter one from Aldi and cost just 4 pence so not risking much. I'd say it was a success - though perhaps a bit smoother than when just boiled and chopped with carrots.
***************
Must mention the progress of the "Pangasian Fish".
It's a type of Catfish , and was first marketed as Vietnamese River Cobbler when first introduced to us.
That name didn't find favour, it got a bad press, and it was relaunched as "Basa fish ".
They are doing it again - transformed into "Pangasian Fish" It was featured on 'Come Dine With Me' yesterday. They used the smoked version and everyone enjoyed it a lot. There's a surprise.
It made the news yesterday when a survey showed that of ten Chippies in Liverpool - 3 were using Pangasian where Cod or Haddock would be expected. Plausible deniability. covered the intention to deceive.
Cat Fish and Chips
I don't blame the fish friers - white fish is very expensive, and a substitute has to be found. The consumer must be re- educated. Pollock and Hake have been tried in recent years.
