I started the milling operations under the VM this morning and cut the face of the crosshead slide, the inside of the bearing carriers until the crankshaft fitted with room for the cheeks of the bearings and finally for this morning, the face of the target end. That all took 45 minutes and now I am ready for my breakfast.

This morning I milled all the surfaces that needed it and cut the horns that will hold the crankshaft brasses to the sizes needed. I now have a bit of handwork to do on the bed to refine it ready for fitting to the base. The job now is breakfast.

This morning was clean up time on the VM, revert to the normal cutter. Then refine the finish on the bed with hand tools and the air drive grinder to clean up the centre of the target end. Now the target is breakfast.

Re: Shed Matters 3
Today I drilled the four holes in the base for the holding down screws that secure the base to the plinth. Then I drilled the clearance holes in the lugs on the bed for the 2BA bolts that will secure it to the base. Next I marked drilled and tapped for the two bo0lts at the cylinder end of the bed and fitted them, adjusting the holes so that the bed sits correctly on the base. That took 45 minutes so I have abandoned the engine in favour of my breakfast.
