MEDICAL MATTERS

We have had many moans about the NHS in the past, but at the moment we are certainly feeling the benefit. District nurses and palliative care nurses visiting regularly and now a delivery of useful equipment just 4 hours after a visit from the Occupational Therapist. The inflatable mattress should help protect against bed sores, the adjustable bed rest will help Col to sit up comfortably, a walking frame to help him get to the en suite bathroom and a frame around the raised toilet seat so he can use the toilet. Plus a commode if he can no longer get there. It's all go!

I get the feeling the local NHS/ Social Services is on some kind of bonus on how many walking frames and commodes they can hand out. Most folks houses havent got the space for them without major adjustment.

As October approaches (1oo days to christmas) i suppose it is covid and flu booking time

COVID is still doing the rounds, a couple of people I was away with tested positive so I thought I'd best check mine wasn't just a cold

Covid was funny (peculiar) the milder the infection the tail off and secondary issues seemed to be reported as worse ( dont know how statistically significant those reports were)
The normal Hot Toddys against colds seem to help as does asthma inhalers and residual vaccinations. Covid is probably mutating to less kill more spread.

I tested negative this morning and am definitely on the mend, Paulette has reported an improvement too

When Bob and I had Covid it was much milder than any cold we had had and the after effects were zero. Any one we know who has had it have all been the same. I think these days the media likes to talk about it but there are worse things around . Sadly the media only tells us the negatives of both the disease and the vaccine. Good news is not news these days

I have sorted out my Well appointment, it's for the annual flu jab. I have to go online to book the Covid booster.

On another matter, I received my appointment today for my contrasted MRI scan, (year7), Wednesday 1st October 4pm Leeds General Infirmary. The schedule skipped year 6 and I think my last one will be at year 10.

I booked my train tickets for my jolly to Leeds,, £10.15 all day return, any train out and any train back. I have actually booked the 11.05 to Leeds but I can get any following train if I miss that one. If the M6 bus at 10.20 is on time it shouldn't be a problem. I should get into Leeds with time to spare for a bit of lunch then a nice walk up over the Headrow to LGI which is about 20 minutes steady away. I'll get a city bus if its not fine. A lot cheaper than driving and parking. Free buses at each end as required and you cant really beat just over a tenner for a return train journey to Leeds. I will have plenty of time for a look round Leeds centre as well.

Thanks Stanley. I'll see if I can remember the route through the hospital to where I need to be. Alternatively I can walk round the outer perimeter to get to the the other side if its fine.
