Room 600 at the Nuremberg courts of justice in 2000. I was there with the Carleton College students. This was where the war criminals were tried after WW2. Both the students and the official guide were impressed when I told them that in another life I had guarded some of the prisoners at Spandau Gaol in Berlin....

In 1954 National Service took over my life.... A completely forgotten corner now!

Weaving out in 1979 at Bancroft. This was the worst sight in the world if you worked in the industry. Thankfully that's all behind us but we will never forget!

This was another sad site from the same era.... Spring Mill engine at Earby in 1978, smashed up and dragged into the yard awaiting being carted away for scrap.

I wonder how many people remember what an ancient foundation Bracewell Church is?

This was news at the time but I suspect has been forgotten by now.....

Ellenroad rope race before I demolished it. A wonderful example but dangerously unstable after we had demolished the structures round it.

The rope race was not built to stand alone and when we dropped the structures round it it was like a playing card stood on its end. It had to go but it was a difficult decision.... A forgotten corner now.

I set a local builder on to build the back wall and faced criticism because it was such a big job for a small builder. But I had seen his work and the end result justified my confidence in him. Here it is.... pretty impressive I'd say!
Years later my daughter Janet set a brickie on in Australia to build a house for her. He mentioned that a man with her surname had set him and his dad on to build the biggest wall they had ever attempted. Janet said oh yes, the back wall at Ellenroad. That was my dad...... Bit of a coincidence.....

King Street in 1986. I lived in the corner house on the left and had bought the back to back opposite for my mother who had died and that's why it was up for sale. A forgotten corner now but it was an elegant solution to caring for her in her later years.
