The sun was warm with us as well Gloria but tempered by that wind!
Yesterday afternoon was overcast but dry and we had a dry beginning to the night which became steady rain. This morning we have a breeze and rain under heavy overcast. The glass is down on 1007mb and the forecast is for heavy overcast, wind and rain until mid afternoon when it will brighten and we might see some sunny spells. The moderate wind starts in the South but by this afternoon has become westerly, it gusts to almost 35mph and we can expect a high of 11C and a low tonight of 1C with a wind chill that reaches -5C at times. The outlook is for two very windy days on Saturday and Sunday followed by brighter warmer weather.

We are lightly overcast, no breeze, drizzle and noticeably cooler than it was in the sun yesterday.

Yesterday afternoon the showers eventually died out and we went into a night of clear skies and a brilliant moon. At the moment the sky is still clear and we have a bit of breeze. The glass has risen to 1010mb and the forecast is for an overcast but mo0stly dry day. The SW winds start moderate but gradually strengthen and tonight will be gusting to 55mph. We can expect a high of 14C and a low tonight of 3C. The wind chill will be -4C for much of the day. Tomorrow will be brighter but cool and windy, after that the wee gets warmer and we could even see 15C.

While not quite scudding there was mid height cloud movement at a fair lick this afternoon, this appeared to be the southern edge of the cold front that is basically on a horizontal line accross england roughly at the level of the river thames. beyond over north london it appeared to be raining which I think probably was about up to about Birmingham.

Yesterday afternoon was overcast and we had constant very light rain which wasn't on the hymn sheet. As we went into night it was heavily overcast and the wind started building. At the moment we are overcast and have just passed the peak of Storm Dave which we are told was 65mph but we are sheltered down here in the town. It must have been scary up at Wendy's..... The glass fell to 990mb but is rising fast now. The forecast is for a day of bright overcast with a mixture of sunny spells and light showers. The constant West wind is strong and will stay like that all day,it has gusted to 65mph but is now slowly reducing but still blustery. We can expect a high of 7C and a low tonight of -1C. The wind chill is -6C at the moment but will settle to a steady -5C all day. The wind will drop below 40mph by 19:00. The outlook is for brighter warmer weather, 17C is forecast for Wednesday but then it will cool slightly.

All good here, over the last few days I’ve noticed the afternoon light and our atmosphere changing a bit earlier than usual, and this weekend we turned our clocks back one hour.
We’ve had a few light showers, but that’s it for a few days. Time to start closing up earlier and put some socks on 😊

The sound of the wind woke me up at about 12.30am when it was at its peak. The weather station recorded a gust of 51mph around that time. We are fairly sheltered from a South Westerly, but my opposite neighbours at Blearaside are exposed to it. Their gust was almost 58mph.
I've lived here long enough to trust that there will be no major damage if the gusts remain under 60mph, even though the noise is frightening! I was able to settle down to sleep again an hour later when I saw that the pressure was rising and the worst was past!
I see it then swung more round to the west and the temperature dropped.

Morning Wendy.... I am glad you escaped damage and yes, the pressure is rising as fast as it fell. We are on 1004mb now.

It howled here last night, it was the worst we’ve heard it in our 3yrs of living here. We’ve now a very light breeze, some blue sky and a few dark clouds floating about. The temperature is acceptable for rye time of year.
