Yesterday was clear dry and cold but had the advantage of only light winds. This morning we have a light breeze and heavy overcast, it is cold. The glass is down a shade on 1019mb and the forecast is for rain all day. The overcast might break at times and allow a sunny spell but will always revert to rain. The westerly winds will be constant and light to moderate. We can expect a high of 7C and a low tonight of 0C with a wind chill of -4C for much of the day...... The outlook is for dry weather. It will be very cold for three or four days and then go back to something like today from Friday onwards.

It’s been trying to sleet here, but given it up as a bad job, and is chucking it down again.

BBC headline -
"Possible disruption as yellow snow and ice warning issued"
I thought it was all white. . . .

Every Winter ( nov argueably still Autumn but the equinox has well passed ) the BBC seem surprised that Scotland will have snow. a wet warm front comes in meeting cold artic air and tops up the peaks which used to be covered with snow throughout the year as they never got warmed enough, in the recent past the snow has reduced in those spaces but this is the first top up of the year.
The last storm passing London took off most of the leaves from the broadleaf trees so they missed the first of the negative 1 degree of frost that happened overnight and despite the bright sun the temp refused to get much above 2 in the outer suburbs.

I have often heard warnings about yellow snow but that was for a very different reason.....
Yesterday afternoon faired up for a couple of hours but by mid-afternoon we had loose cold rain again. This morning we have a northerly breeze and light rain. The glass has fallen to 1006mb and the forecast is wintery showers on a north wind to start the day and for the rest to be very windy and cold. The northerly winds will be moderate all day gusting to over 36mph. We can expect a high of 2C and a low tonight of at least -5C with a wind chill all day of -5c and a few hours late tonight when it will reach -7C. The outlook is for two more very cold days and then slightly warmer for the rest of the week.

It was sunning through the curtains earlier on, now it’s clouded over and looks like it could rain.

No sun here in Barlick either Gloria but I have just got back from an extended walk and it was OK long as you kept going and weren't walking directly into the teeth of the very, very cold wind.

It was slightly warmer in London yesterday that I thought though today is due to be a couple of degrees lower. Morning sleet - nearly snow -fell but with warm pavements didnt settle and its back to rain now with some breeze in the air.

Lovely sunning now, but it makes your eyes run with the chill when out.

Yesterday we saw the start of a very cold snap. This morning we have a breezy cold clear morning and including the wind chill it's -8C out there.... The glass is up slightly on 1011mb. The forecast is for a bright, cold day even though we have plenty of sun. The mainly NW winds will be moderate all day and we can expect a high of 3C, a low of -5C tonight and a wind chill of -4C all day. Good weather as long as you are wrapped up and keep moving!

there is meant to be snowy something coming down the north sea to the English Channel and thus across to London from a nearly beastly East

maybe not London but the east coast is getting more than a sprinkling of snow with more frosty night to come.
Unusual weather fronts as I thought I got it wrong but no, a warm front chasing down a cold one , but the cold front will turn anti clockwise to give the pressure front with a tip about iceland down to scotland of cold from the east and the ribbon down through scotland and england of a warm(er) wet westerly , fast behind accross Ireland is the more normal pattern of a warm front being followed by a cold front joined to the north forming an occluded front. conclusion , more snow spatters more chilly nights and not much warmer days for 10 days or so.

The bottom line for yesterday was bright and cold. It's still cold this morning but nit as savage as the last few days. The glass has risen to 1020mb and the forecast is for a bright sunny day. The westerly winds will be light but constant. At first they tend to the north but by 09:00 are firmly in more southerly. We can expect a high of 4C and a low tonight of 0C with a wind chill of -3C for much of the day. Over the weekend the weather gets wetter and warmer and we lose the cold spell.

Indeed forecast now is for next week and beyond to be warmer - its that warm front , than anticipated at the start of the week. London day temps due to be 8 deg with sun and 10+ with cloud cover. westerly winds wont have a chill to them generally.
I think it was expected the cold front would hang around high blocked along the north sea coasts but the jet stream must be on enough of a push to move things along. Pity not enough hours in day to enjoy the sun and warm relative temps until early Dec at least, the heating thermostat can go down a couple of degrees after the weekend

Over the last couple of days we have had lots of gentle rain (14mm) and a bit of thunder here and there.
Today, gosh it’s warm, we will hit 30C. A bit warmer tomorrow and then getting back to ‘normal’.
The hose pipe is coming out more often. It’s over a week before we might get some more rain.

Yesterday afternoon became incredibly gloomy at times but managed to stay dry. This morning first thing it was breezy and cold under overcast but dry. It's the same now. The glass is down on 985mb and the forecast is for a dry overcast day that brightens a bit to sunny intervals this afternoon. The light wind starts in the NW but ends the day as NNW after spending much of the day in the North. We can expect a high of 7C and a low of -1C tonight with up to -4C wind chill in the afternoon.
