Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Don't know what Haloumi is Maz. Many of these 'exotic' cheeses are a disappointment.
I had a winter dinner, Mutton, onion gravy and chipped sweet potatoes. Not very hungry at teatime so I had two small cheese and tomato butties on a soya and linseed bread that I got at the Co-op when they had none of the oven bottoms. Very nice bread!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Dinner was the last of the Mutton and onion gravy with some baked beans to bulk it up. Tea was two small poached egg butties but I blotted my copy book by eating a small packet of milk chocolate coated digestive biscuits......

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I am just about to set our last bit of Silsden lamb off in the bottom of the oven. Carla and our Jack had a share in a lamb last year along with part of a pig reared on Carla's friends smallholding. They have bought a full pig for rearing this year. Our Jack is coming round for tea and lamb is one of his favorite meats, will serve it with the trimmings. It's quite a big piece so I can probably see a few shepherds pies for the freezer as well.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Had to read that twice.
First read sounded like you had this wedge of Lamb in 't oven since last year, possibly welded to a bit of Pork.
Where did I put my glass of Red...( I need clarity...)

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I had the last of the mutton on two small butties for dinner and two poached eggs on oven bottom for tea. Blotted my copy book again because I had the other two oven bottoms with Apricot Conserve on them for pudding. Streng Verboten of course but every now and then you have to live dangerously!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
We had yesterdays roast Lamb with mash and the normal trimmings. I boiled enough spuds for my shepherds pie making this afternoon. I'll make one for my tea today and some single portion pies for the freezer.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Cornish pasty and the last of the baked beans for dinner. I boiled some carrots and parsnips and mashed them and at tea time had a small portion with a meat pie. Not very hungry for once.....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Trying to get enthusiastic about some thin Beef Sausages I bought yesterday and must cook this evening.
I guess it could be Mash, onion Gravy and Veg.
Still sounds boring, doesn't it?

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
No, it sounds delicious! Nothing tastier than sausages in onion gravy....
Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
In the competition for boring I think I might win tonight. It's chicken foccacia here. I might melt some cheese on Den's to jazz it up a bit!!Marilyn wrote: Still sounds boring, doesn't it?

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I like Focaccia and Chicken ( with lots of oven roasted Red Capsicums etc)
Had to laugh at the four hand made sausages I bought at the market...one was 4 inches long, two were six inches long, and one was a whopper at about nine inches long but was thin in the middle yet bulbous at both ends! Think a Butcher's kiddie made them.
I made a Potato and Butternut Pumpkin Bake instead of Mash.
When I make Onion Gravy, I like to cook the Onion well in butter, then add a bit of water from the kettle to broil the Onion before making the Gravy...releases the volatile gases from the Onion...cuts down on problems with wind. ( makes them more user friendly!)
Febby loved his meal. I thought it ok. ( not a big fan of sausages these days, though I used to love them)

I like the onions in white sauce with sausages.
Roast shoulder of lamb, new potatoes, roast parsnip & carrot, asparagus and minted gravy tonight.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Moh, you are a bastion of good old-fashioned cooking!
Maz, sausages are good as long as you know what goes in them. We are lucky because you can get good sausage in Barlick....
I had the last of the mashed carrot and parsnip for dinner with two poached eggs. I had a small sweet potato and four carrots that wanted eating so I fried them for tea and had two Basil and sun-dried tomato sausages with them for tea.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Chicken Schnitzel, Stir Fried Veg, Jasmine Rice with Sweet and Sour Sauce tonight.
I've done all my prep...crumbed the Chicken, chopped the Veg and made the sauce.
Now I can get out and enjoy this lovely sunshine!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Lamb curry done in the slow cooker and served with cauliflower rice followed by stewed rhubarb (from the garden) chilled with Greek yoghurt. I thought the rhubarb would be too tart but it was OK. I used Stevia instead of sugar and that can have an unpleasant taste if you overdo it, but a bit of ginger in the mix did wonders.
Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I'm making a frittata tonight. I roasted extra veggies last night, the eggs are beaten and I've just sliced and fried a chorizo. Everything is ready for assembling and baking. It will be interesting to see if the roasted beetroot makes it all go pink.
Liz
Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I think Frittata is a winner whatever you put in it....though I've never tried Choritzo ( having an aversion to Garlic).
I usually do mine with Red Salmon/Cauliflower/Brocolli ( plus Chives/Parsley and Black Pepper).
Must admit I can't recall having Roasted Beetroot in it, but I think that would be amazing too.
I have also made Frittata with loads of Spinach with the Red Salmon.
Our Schnitzel with Stir Fry Veg was yummy. ( sauce had a lot of Lemon/Chives/Lime and Chilli in it...oolaalah..yum). Went well with the oven roasted Red Capsicum and Red Onion.
