I had two onions dying in the bowl, the remains of a tired lattice and 4 Sausages. Lightly grilled the sausages and cut them up, chopped the onions and sweated them down in olive oil. Added vinegar, a tin of tomato concentrate and the assuages and left them to argue on a low light. Dinner and tea were this as a filler on salad butties and everything used up. I have a loaf in the machine......

I had almost finished a bag of white flower and tipped the lot into my mix when loading the bread making machine. I usually u8se half and half white/wholemeal and do the loaf rose more than usual resulting in a crust which flapped over at the edges. Before bagging the loaf up I cut these off and had them with the remains of the tomato and onion for dinner. Nice! Fir tea I boiled carrots and steamed a cauliflower cut in half above the carrots. Half a cauli and boiled carrots for tea and enough left for the same to be popped into the fridge overnight for my tea today.
By accident I found a better way of extracting the full flavour from my morning pint of coffee. I always use good ground coffee and brew it in my old brew can. I usually just mash the coffee, leave it to soak and top up with boiling water when I need it. By accident I poured the full complement of boiling water in and so when I needed it I strained it into the mug and brought it back up to temperature before putting the full cream milk in. (It had stood for about twenty minutes) The result was a fuller flavour so I shall do it that way from now on.....

I have had a pleasant surprise this week. I have always discounted corned beef as a butty filler but got some from Kath last Friday and it is far better than the tinned version, a lot less fat and very nice smooth taste. So, corned beef and salad butty for dinner and the rest of the cauliflower and carrots for tea. I then topped up with a small corned beef butty later on. These munchies in the evening mean I am eating slightly too much. I am trying to fight it!

Quite boring.... Corned beef and salad butties X 2 for dinner and tea. Too hot for cooking!

I got two smoked cod fillets from the Co-op and cooked them in milk and pepper in the microwave. Half on a salad butty for dinner to use the bread up and the other half with chips and peas for tea. Nice change.....

Got a fresh cauli yesterday (49p) and steamed it over a pan of carrots. Half the cauli and carrots for dinner and for tea, a steak pudding, carrots and chips from two potatoes that were dying. Waste not want not!

Small corned beef and salad butty for dinner. The rest of the cauli and carrots for tea with a steak pudding on top.
One nice surprise was that I happened to have the right glasses on and it was light in the bathroom so I noticed that my old Salter scale was out of adjustment. It was reading about 3 pounds heavy! So I adjusted it, weighed myself and found I was dead on target for my slow transition to below 12 stones! Goody!!

Two very small corned beef salad butties X two for dinner and tea. They all tasted good. I must have a very unimaginative taste in food but that's handy when you live on your own and don't like wasting food!

I think if I lived alone I would eat a lot of pizzas with different imaginative toppings each night...lots of mushrooms/spinach/goat's cheese etc.
Left over Beef Curry from last night is going to become individual pies tonight. Pastry made and is resting in fridge, wrapped in cling film. Will be served with Mash/Cauliflower/Carrots and Green Beans.

That would be one way round it Maz. My guideline is to make sure my diet is as varied as possible. One of the advantages of butties or chips is that you can eat anything with them. The3 more variety the better as long as it is from a good source and cooked at home from fresh and raw.

The last of the corned beef on two small salad butties for dinner (which also used up the last of the salad ingredients.) For tea I toasted the last three small slices of the loaf Kath gave me on Friday, added some peas and three very small Lithuanian kipper fillets and topped it with a scrambled egg. Nice change and very tasty!

Not that I know of Moh! Funny how you suddenly become aware of certain tastes. I think Soy is classed as the new one (I can never remember the name, is it something like amami?)
Had two teacakes with black pudding and poached egg for dinner and the other half of the cauli and carrots for tea topped up with a treat, two toasted teacakes with whey butter.

I don't think you need
Amami any more.

Friday night was Amami night !! Tonight beef, leek & chilli rolls with puff pastry bought at Huntley's near Preston - excellent butchers but a bit pricey, nice afternoon out though.

That could be it Liz....
I cooked a tomato, a finely chopped onion and some grated cheese to make a filling for two small butties on teacake for dinner. Looks a mess but very tasty. For tea I had a head of kale steamed over a pan of peas and chucked a boil in the bag pack of 3 small kipper fillets in with the kale. Scrambled egg on top. Very healthy tea which will keep Maz at bay! Did my bowels much good!

I agree Liz and the menu is so varied. I have an idea that Moh likes cooking!
I had a head of kale steamed over a pan of water that was cooking a steak pudding. (That'll please Maz....) Had some potatoes dying in the corner so I rescued enough to make chips. Finished up with slightly too large a meal but it was good. Last of the ham on small butties for tea.
