I slow cooked 2lb of stewing beef yesterday and Jack and I had a portion with mixed veg and mash. Same again for me tonight with a pre prepared oven bake with the remnants of the veg, a serving spoon of beef topped with remainder of the mash and bit of grated cheese. With picking Ruby up we knew we would not have a lot of prep time in the kitchen this afternoon to prepare for tea.
We cooked a pan full of spuds and separated half before mashing yesterday. These have been used for large batch of cheese and onion pies for the freezer. One twin serving for the boys without any topping but will eventually have a suet crust on it when finished and consumed.

Potted stew butty for dinner followed by half a Roquefort butty, nothing but home made bread and lots of cheese! Tea was steak pudding, chips and peas with a warm meat pie for a filler later on. Plenty of fruit and nots for pudding...

Roast fillet of lamb, new potatoes, carrots, broccoli and gravy tonight. I thought I would mix a lamb stock cube with a dash of olive oil and rub into the lamb - Marco P. White does it with chicken.

I made Quiche Lorraine today, to be served with Salad.
Febby was officially declared Diabetic today and we have an appointment with a Dietician in a few weeks. I don't think there is too much wrong with the way we eat, but we will go with open minds.
I keep telling him that we have been aware he was pre-diabetic for 12 years and have held off the inevitable for all this time by walking daily and watching what we eat...so I think we have done very well. You just can't beat such a strong family history for Diabetes, and while we knew he probably would eventually succumb, we did all we could to delay it.
I am hoping he gets involved more in choosing what he eats, because I am not the one with Diabetes and he needs to know how to manage his condition.

Started the day by boiling spuds and carrots and building a sausage, onion and tomato stew. Had the stew on butties for dinner to use up the loaf Kath gave me last Friday (Been in the freezer) and then I tipped the stew on top of the spuds and carrots, adjusted the seasoning and brought it to a slow simmer in time for tea. Lovely stuff!

Beef in ale, mash & carrots. The fan oven on my double oven 'blew up' the other night, the element has gone (it tripped all the power), and they cannot come to repair it until Monday so meals will be somewhat different. Fortunately the top oven works and I have my microwave.

Hard luck Moh.... Last of the sausage and veg for dinner and a cheese and beetroot butty for tea on fresh home made bread. I topped up with half a fried egg butty later.....

Slow Cooked Chicken Tikka Curry...with Jasmine Rice....and absolutely DELICIOUS it was too.

What happened to the other half of the Egg Buttie? Can't believe you wasted half a Buttie!

Just had smoked haddock & crusty bread for lunch - chicken with fennel in a cream sauce tonight with potato croquettes and garden peas.

It was a half butty because it was only one slice of bread doubled over with an egg in it Maz. Kath's meat pies weren't out of the oven yesterday so I got Haslett and pressed beef instead. So a butty of each for dinner and tea, both reinforced by a fried egg!
They were cooking smoked haddock on a cookery programme last night Moh, looked good!

I slow cooked a nice piece of rump steak on onions yesterday. Half of it on a butty at dinnertime and the rest with boiled spuds and peas for tea.....

Had roast pork yesterday - it was the nicest we have had for ages, so full of flavour. Today will be cold pork, new potatoes, stuffing, apple sauce, veggies & gravy.

Had porridge for dinner and steak pudding, some left over baked beans, spuds and carrots for tea. Cheated and had two small Eccles Cakes for pudding at dinner and tea....

Had a cold pork, stuffing & apple sauce buttie for lunch it was delicious - 3 meals from a £5. joint. Lasagne tonight.

One of my favourite butties Moh....Liz, is Tasmanian Salmon wild or farmed?
I was plotting all sorts for dinner but in the end settled for simply warming up the left over spuds and carrots. Only half a bowl so I topped up with the warm crust off the new loaf with garlic and herb soft cheese. Tea was burgers, beans, chips and the rest of the cream cheese on a slice of bread for supper.

I imagine it is farmed Stanley. It had plenty of flavour though.
