Morning Stanley

Its a joke photo to do with the comment before about being married b3fore the people he works with were born 😊

Its due to be cooler today, it reached 24.5 here yesterday, almost unheard of I should think. We are visiting a local castle and generally doing a few local sites. It rained yesterday evening cooling things off but is due to be a fine day. Have a good one

It says 1881 now, which is 100 years earlier than our actual wedding :-)

I think I might skip the shed this morning and get my belly pork into the slow cooker instead..... No chance of a walk today if the weather forecast is accurate..... Heavy rain!

Morning

We had a lovely day yesterday visiting Chillingham Castle. What a fabulous place. The present owner has renovated it from dereliction and near demolition restoring it to a wonderful place packed full of museum pieces. He has written a comprehensive tour guide explaining the history and al the bits and pieces he has collected. One room is described as the museum but the whole place is a museum. The gardens have been restored to their 18 th century magnificence. Down by the greenhouses we got talking to an elderly lady who was busy working down there and it transpires she was Lady Wakekfield the owners wife. Lord Wakefield is approaching 90 and has devoted the last 40+ years of his life renovating and researching the castle, repairing floors walls and ceilings and opening up concealed rooms and passageways. We were there over 4 hours and felt we had hardly started looking at it. Late in the afternoon we went for a walk along Seahouses beach.

Today being Sunday we are out for Sunday lunch. Its due to be a cool ( 9 degrees) wet day so need to find an indoor activity somewhere . Have a good day all

Today is the Silentnight Michael Hartley memorial football match at Victory Park. There are both Junior and Senior games. Proceeds are for Bosom Friends. First deployment of our new Gazebo. We are running a Tombola for the day. We will have help deploying but will have to pack up ourselves, children's 5th birthday party has got in the way for some of our younger trustees, should be fun!

Yesterday I skipped the shed and prepared my pork belly for the slow cooker.
I thought I had posted that but evidently not....
This morning I shall not skip the shed. I have to complete the retrieval of my mistake with the CS screws!

This morning I cut the 4BA CS screws to size and fitted the front lid using them as fasteners. Then I drilled the four remaining holes 4BA tapping size. (No 32 number drill) tapped them and fitted the 3/4" studs that will attach the cylinder to the target face. So I am back on track after yesterday's mistake. There is a certain perverse satisfaction to be gained from correcting a mistake so elegantly..... Now for breakfast.

Morning

It was a cold wet day yesterday only reaching about 8 degrees, what a contrast to Friday when it was 24 degrees. We did little in the morning, mainly read then drove out to the Black Bull pub in Lowick where we had a very pleasant lunch till a group of 4 adults and rwo children arrived aged about 2 and 4+. The 4 year old was a horror so badly behaved. Mum never got time to eat and Dad did nothing to help. We were not impressed.

After lunch we went to the Ad Gefryn museum in Wooler where there was an excellent display about the local kings and settlement of Ad Gefryn circa 600 AD. We then drove to the actual site which is just a field that has been well excavated over the years, but now is carefully mown to show positions of the Great Hall and other buildings. By this time it was jolly cold and mist had descended on the hills around us

https://adgefrin.co.uk. We didn’t do the whiskey tour

Today we go home via Hawes, the weather should be much better. We were offered another night here as nobody is booked in today but I have a physio appointment for my trapped nerve, on Tuesday morning. Have a good day all

Sue, I'm going to recommend a book that I think you might like to read. It's a true story about a once famous female gardener whose reputation was tarnished and lost. There is a strong link to the Berkeley family and Miss Willmott's archive was discovered in the cellars of Spetchley Park, now home to Henry Berkeley who I looked after when he was 3. Your comment about Lady Wakefield reminded me of 'Aunt Juliet' who was always to be found in the gardens at Spetchley, then the Berkeley's summer residence.

This morning I spent half an hour massaging the fit of the cylinder to the target end until I had the valve face perpendicular to the bed. Next I need to increase the clearance between the two far side studs and the casting so as to allow the nuts to rotate freely. But that will do tomorrow. Right now the target is breakfast.

Morning

We had a lovely if long drive back from Northumberland calling in at one or two places on the way. Thankyou for the book link Wendy, now bought for my kindle.

This morning I have a physio appointment and then I have a few odd jobs to do throughout the day such as planting up my rooted geranium cuttings, a bit of sewing and a picture to draw for art on Thursday .

Have a good day all
