Clue. Holtzapfel lathes used it for sharpening cutters to precise angles..... We've already looked at the lapping plates used with it.

It was difficult David and help was needed. It worked, Kev got it. Yes, it's a goniostat and this one was ysed for sharpening ivory cutters to the correct angles....
Now we need another object!
