Good, it makes a nice sauce and you can put what you want in it so long as you have the magic tomatoes, vinegar and olive oil. There's something that happens to that mixture which is very good for us, look at Mediterranean cooking....

Defrosting some Chicken.
No overwhelming urge to do anything particular with it yet, but we are still about 4 hours out from Dinner, and I have faith that inspiration will strike in time.

Two small bowls of stew, one at dinner and one for tea. No munchies! I put a large piece of pork in the oven last night and slow-roasted it. The gravy is poured off and in the fridge, the meat is back in the oven relaxing.... We shall not starve today!

Pork butties X two. The large pork joint was in the wrap up I got off Stewart before his holiday. It's the reason I don't like large roasting joints, too big for a singleton. Never mind, they were good butties!

Made a batch of "Burnt Butter Biscuits".
( had to melt and brown the butter so guess that is where the " burnt" comes in)
House smells fabulous, and Febby insisted some of them were deformed and had to be eaten immediately, straight from the cooling rack. Haven't had this much trouble filling the biscuit barrel since son lived at home.
Ham and Cheese Croissants for dinner this evening.

Sounds like a complete success Maz, unlike my cooking yesterday! I had this slab of cold cooked pork. Roast pork is lovely when eaten hot and fresh out of the oven but it can be pretty insipid stuff cold. Decided to slice it, fry the slices to get some colour and taste into them, cut them up and have pork and beans. Dinner wasn't too bad, I had a helping with some chips but tea was a disaster. I shame to say I ate half and chucked the rest away, most unusual for me. This is why I don't but big joints and the lesson has been reinforced. I shall do better today!

Finished the small out of date loaf that Kathy gave me on Friday with a sausage and egg butty. I pot roasted a blade of two shear on onions and after de-boning it I popped some peas in and the remainder of the spuds and carrots I made the day before. The result was something very close to Lancashire Hot Pot and it's nice. Small bowl for tea and two helpings ready for today. Waste not want not!

Had a small bowl of hot pot for dinner and it was so nice that I extended it with some chips so there is a helping left for today.

Last of the Hot Pot for dinner and then I built the stew up a la Maz!
The two shear with Cabbage, Celery and Peas. Green leafy? It will get the last of the spuds and the large head of celery this morning.... Had some for tea, lovely and it will be better today of course. First of the Russet apples came in yesterday, lovely fresh taste!

( I am sure your Mother and I would have enjoyed a chin wag)
I buy a substantial bag of Baby Spinach leaves each week and slip them in all sorts of dishes...soups, egg dishes, rice dishes, salads and steamed with other veg. My universal additive!
