I think 6" overall Cathy....
I've reviewed hundreds of brushes and can't find a match.

Close enough - well done. It's a pumice stick - as recommended by Kim and Aggie of "How clean is your house". Said to remove heavy stains from the toilet - without damaging the porcelain - and it did - for a while. Took a while to come from China.

Does it clip on your boot to give a better grip on slates or tiles?

Whyperion discounts it but actually has the right answer. The rubber pads sit on the ground and the 'feet' can be tipped onto the spiked end to grip on ice or snow (or any other soft surface). I will say I have no intention of using my ladder in the ice or snow.

I discounted it because most ladders these days come with rubber feet anyway. Ideally ladders should these days be teathered to walls too , but drilling the holes for the eye screws brings its own problems of damaging the walls including potential water ingress to cavity walls that have been stuffed with blown or some slab insulation. I suppose the ice claws maybe of more use in climates with more snow - Norway or some Alpine region when you have to clean the gutters .
