I saw some fish described as Basa in the Co-op yesterday and wondered what it was David..... So it has reached Barlick.....

.
I had chicken and veggies X three. Carl delivered my meat, a chicken, 2lbs of hot and spicy wings (I stuff the chicken with them.....) and a piece of pork belly. I can remember when that would have been a tenner, it's change out of £30 now.... £27.75. The times they are a changing.....

We will be having a Italian peasants sharing dish for tea tonight Uova in Purgatorio or eggs in purgatory. I saw the recipe on a drama programme this week where in the storyline an Italian chef was showing a bloke who cant cook how easy it is to make a tasty meal. Its an Italian variation on the east African dish Shakshuka, the spices used are the variables.
Fry gently and soften onion and garlic in a largish frying pan or skillet, add passata to create a rich tomato sauce, (you can use chopped tomatoes if you wish), add a small amount of Chilli flakes and Oregano, cook a little longer. Make two wells at each side of the pan and drop an egg into each, add Basil and poach until the eggs are cooked. Sprinkle with Parmesan to complete the dish.
Eat from the pan with crusty bread. We have a bottle of red to go with it.

Sounds lovely. If using up leftover chilli I like to add eggs in the same way. A variation on huevos rancheros.

Presumably you are happy to pay that - for the delivery, and the knowledge that you are supporting a local small business.
It has to be said though - that money would buy you four whole "large" chickens, (£4.79 each) and five kilos (£2.25 per kilo) of chicken legs from Aldi. Forget the wings - they're mostly skin and bone.
Your freezer, and a lift from a friend now and then, would reduce your shopping bill.
It's up to you. . .

You're right David of course but as you say it's up to me. I'd rather support a local butcher who I know and trust than risk going for the cheapest price. His wings are very tasty!
Yesterday I had chicken and veggies X three and spicy mackerel on oatcake for second breakfast.

If you're in St Annes at any time I'd highly recommend the Anatolia Sea View restaurant.

I was chasing last week's batch down while preparing for cooking a new batch of veggies today...... My chicken is roasted, the gravy is dealt with and I have cooked the outer leaves from three cauliflowers..... (Waste not want not!)

Three helpings of the old batch as I cooked the new veggies. One helping left for breakfast this morning and then we plunge into the new veggies.

When I shopped for veggies I got two 'Irresistible' burgers and yesterday I cooked them with onions, baked beans and three eggs. This was the protein base for yesterday's three meals and was topped up with veggies. I also cooked buttered Swede as an extender.....
