Re: DIALECT AND WORD MEANINGS
Shouldn't it be spelt epicaricacy? That clever google AI says it's: Epicaricacy (pronounced
ep-ih-kar-IK-uh-see). I wonder if languages other than German and English have a word for it. I'll bet they have one in the US White House!

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
Although Gimp is working fine for me I now find I've another problem with Gthumb. I mentioned a problem after a Gthumb update on Thursday when it was crashing each time I tried to open an image for editing but I re-installed and it seemed all was OK. Then yesterday I found a different problem... Whe...

Mrs Tiz is on the same latest versions of Ubuntu and Gimp as you are but it works OK on her PC. Probably best to leave what you've got for now then try again later.

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
I'd not used Gimp recently but was using the gThumb editor every day. Then on Wednesday I opened gThumb and could view the thumbnail pics but every time I clicked on one it flashed up the full image but it immediately vanished and crashed the app. This was just after downloading that morning's regul...

Re: Seen in the News
At the moment the discussion is focussed on questions being asked in Congress about what intelligence Trump had from the CIA and other services that led him to believe that the US had to follow Israel in attacking Iran because Iran was on the ver4ge of having a viable atomic weapon. Yes, Netanyahu'...

Re: Seen in the News
I have always suspected that he was being played by Netanyahu and this resignation seems to bear that out. Likewise, I have always suspected that he was being played by Putin. He's been so soft and friendly with Putin that it makes me wonder whether in the time between Trump's two periods in office...

Did you hear the interview on this morning's Today programme with the retired American army general? He was scathing about Trump and his war on Iran and I'll bet that many of the serving top US military officers think the same even though they dare not say it. I wonder how many senior US military me...

...the US may hit Iran's Kharg Island "a few more times just for fun". That sums up Trump's attitude to war. There are lots of news reports saying that an amphibious group of the USS Tripoli and 5000 marines is being sent in to sort out the Hormuz problem. But when will they arrive and wh...

So much burning oil has been released that it's running along street drains and creating a wall of fire and toxic black smoke. That can then trigger fires in buildings elsewhere. It's just one big awful catastrophe created by Trump and Netanyahu.

It's OK chaps, don't worry, Greece, Italy, France, Spain and the Netherlands have already sent fighter jets to protect Cyprus and now Turkey has sent theirs too (although they may only protect Turkey's bit of the island, of course). My friend the late John Harrison ran a Rolls for a while because he said it was cheaper than any other big car if bought sensibly, second-hand. It's a simple matter for me. Trumps actions are a direct contravention of International Law.
